May is here and we are featuring a new blogger on our page!
Well, she’s definitely not new to the blogging world.
Meet Beth from Just a Blonde in Buffalo. Like myself, Beth’s been a blogger here in Buffalo for five years and is still going strong! Beth documents her experiences and the cool people that she gets to meet all around the city. I always love seeing what she’s up to!
Make sure to follow her on Instagram, and read on further to find out about her blog and her life in Buffalo!
1. How long have you been blogging?
5 years
2. What made you want to start blogging?
I started my blog for a couple reasons. One is because I got sick of hearing people say there was nothing ever to do in town, when there is so, so much to do and see. I also visit my friends who are from Buffalo, but moved away for school or work and noticed that Buffalo is a special place, its a real community and stands out from those cities I’ve visited. I wanted to share that with my followers and continue to showcase our city in a positive light. And lastly, I wanted a hobby, I needed something new and something that would challenge me and make me feel a little uncomfortable. Deep down I’m a really shy person, starting my blog has made me learn that sometimes facing your fears is the best thing you can do for yourself.
3. What’s your favorite thing about being a blogger?
The people I get to meet and the stories I get to share.
4. How did you decide on your blog name?
I wish I had a fun or quirky story for this question, but to be honest I don’t really know how I got the name, the day I started to put my blog together I had know clue what I was doing (I still don’t at times), it kind of just happened naturally, it was a thought that popped in my head and I just stuck with it.
5. What do you love most about living in Buffalo?
I love so much about Buffalo its hard to pick just one thing. I love the people and the opportunity for collaboration to happen. The cultural diversity and the arts programs, the architecture we have and of course the food are all great as well.
6. What are your favorite local restaurants?
Marble + Rye, Billy Club, Cantina Loco, The Grange in Hamburg, Elm Street Bakery in East Aurora, R & L Lounge on the East Side (Lottie makes great homemade pierogi) and Roost on Niagara St.
7. What are your favorite seasonal activities?
Heading into the summer season I’d have to say I love watching the sunset or taking a walk at Wilkeson Pointe or Bird Island. There is something about having a quiet place on the water to just relax, but to also be close to the city is nice. I love taking in a Bisons game on nice summer day or visiting the Buffalo Zoo. Taking my dog, Harlie for a walk at Knox Farms is also a must any chance I get. I love that it’s getting into farmer’s market season too, I enjoy checking out different markets each weekend.
8. What is your favorite neighborhood in the city?
I enjoy the Elmwood village and Delaware Park, by the Albright Knox in the summertime just to stroll around. If I’m heading out for a night out with friends I like to check Hertal or the Theater District area has a few fun spots that I like to visit. And the east side of Buffalo will always have a special place in my heart, I grew up in that neighborhood and visit the Broadway Market often and drive past the Central Terminal and keep up with the improvements that have and are currently taking place. Its a part of the city that may not be bustling with people or have a lot of places to go visit, but there are some special spots in that neighborhood that have a lot of history behind them and I enjoy those hidden gems.
9. What are are a few of your favorite Instagram accounts that you follow?
Cupcakes and Cashmere, DSWT (David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust), Biz Bash, Revolution Buffalo, Krog262, Nickel City Pretty, inthebuffblog, We Must Dash and The Buffalo Zoo
10. What advice would you give to people who would like to start a blog?
I say go for it. Don’t let the fear of maybe not knowing what you’re doing get in the way of what you want to do or your vision. Stay true to yourself and what you want your blog to be, that’s what will make it stand out from the rest. Not every person is the same and not every blog is the same and that’s a good thing. And most importantly have fun with it.
