February Blogger of the Month

Our Blogger of the Month series is BACK for 2019, and this month we are profiling Mandy of the Buffalo Pizza Blog! Make sure to follow her on Instagram for your 24/7 pizza fix 🙂

2-1

How long have you been blogging?

Almost 1.5 years now. I just celebrated my first blog-iversary last September (and obviously celebrated with pizza).

What made you want to start blogging?

I had just moved to Buffalo before I started my blog. I kept my previous job in Rochester and was working remote out of my Buffalo apartment at the time. When you don’t leave your apartment all day and have a professional life in another city, it can be hard to get out and meet new people. Thus, Buffalo Pizza Blog was born. It was a means to explore Buffalo and do the things I love most: eat pizza and try new restaurants.

What’s your favorite thing about being a blogger?

Well, eating pizza for your blog has its obvious perks. But I absolutely love the feedback I get from restaurant owners who truly appreciate the promotion. It’s rewarding to support your local businesses and food scene.

How did you decide on your blog name?

I always said if I started a blog, I wanted it to be niche and memorable. No one should ever have to question what Buffalo Pizza Blog is all about. 🙂

What do you love most about living in Buffalo?

The food scene is top-notch. There is always somewhere to dine for whatever type of experience you’re in the mood for. I’d imagine that’s what heavily contributes to Buffalo’s emerging national recognition for tourists and prospective transplants.

What are your favorite local restaurants?

Ugh. Such a tough question. For pizza, I love Giacobbi’s Cucina Citta and Hearth & Press. For anything else, La Tavola Trattoria on Hertel, Pearl St. Grill and Brewery, and Aguacates Mexican Bar and Grill.

What are your favorite seasonal activities?

When it’s warm in Buffalo I take full advantage of the good weather by going to restaurants with outdoor seating. I also enjoy camping and hiking around many of WNY’s beautiful parks. During the cooler months you can find me rooting on Buffalo’s sports teams with friends!

What is your favorite neighborhood in the city?

I spend a lot of time in the Hertel area. It’s pretty much got everything I need to be content. There’s trivia nights, multiple pizza spots, a wine bar, nice restaurants with outdoor seating in the summer, and even a new cat cafe, which I am hoping to visit soon.

What are are a few of your favorite Instagram accounts that you follow?

@stepoutbuffalo @buffaloeats @barstoolpizzareviews – All great content for foodies and beyond! 🙂

What advice would you give to people who would like to start a blog?

Embrace your true self, passions, ideas, hobbies, and run with it! You’ll be surprised what doors blogging can open for you when you take a chance on yourself. It’s led to me to new amazing friends, new professional opportunities, and new personal growth. Plus, you have a fabulous community of Buffalo bloggers cheering you on!
